I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin where I attended the Univeristy of Wisconsin with a focus on Ceramics. After university I crisscrossed the country a few times between San Francisco and New York. In my time in New York I was fortunate to be introduced to David Arron, a graduate of the, then, New Bauhaus in Chicago. My mentorship under David Aaron was aligned with the standard Bauhaus curriculum and also included emerging mediums at that time such as videography.
Through a series of events then and afterwards I have been quite fortunate in my career as an artist and design professional. In 1984 I relocated to Seattle, WA where I exhibited in galleries in the Pacific Northwest in mediums that including painting, installation, photography, performing arts and worked in the design industry.
Currently, I live in Nagasaki-shi in Japan. While still working in design, my personal projects are focused on three areas all using an iPad and Apple Pencil: painting/drawing, video and photography. Well, photography varies between my Ricoh GR, iPhone SE and iPad. As well I am learning techniques of Japanese ceramics and the Shakuhachi - a Japanese flute.
